Benefits
The Tri-Masters Sports Initiative Programs’ mission is to expose inner-city youth and families to the benefits of health living through the sport of triathlon. The program’s goals are 1) to facilitate multicultural communication through participation in public sporting events, 2) to develop leadership abilities among program youth, 3) to identify practical approaches to alcohol/tobacco/drug prevention education and 4) to provide physical activities to reduce youth obesity within target communities.
The organization consists of a youth triathlon-training program, two adult triathlon-training programs, a marathon-training program, and a cadre of race volunteers who assist in running and triathlon events throughout the Chicago area. In addition, there are partnerships with a community running club, a senior swim program, an infant swim program, and a teen swim team.
All of these activities and programs have benefits to the individual and to the community.
ABOUT US
Tri-Masters is a not-for-profit organization that empowers at-risk children via triathlon in order to teach life lessons. As our youth athletes learn to swim, bike and run, they gain skills in goal-setting, conflict resolution, respect, responsibility, self-discipline and perseverance.
