Michael Frye was born in Chicago on the 26 of December 1989. He is one of five children born to Cynthia Frye. Michael has been swimming since he was two starting in toddler classes and moving up to competitive swimming at the age of four. At the age of eight Michael joined Tri-Masters Sports Initiative Programs at Chicago State University. After six weeks of training Michael completed his first triathlon. He continued to participate in Tri-Masters each summer competing in Triathlons, the annual Chicago Park District 2 mile swim and multiple 5K runs. Michael continued to swim and at 16 was employed as a lifeguard for the Chicago Park District. After graduating from St. Rita of Cascia High School he enrolled in Chicago State University. In 2008 Michael began coaching for the Homewood Flossmoor Swim Club.
At age 20 Michael became the Head Swim Coach for Chicago South Swim Club where he currently trains youth in competitive swimming. Since most children don’t have competitive swimming experience it is often the most difficult part of Triathlon training for them.
